Opera Unhinged is proud to announce NEON, a bold new opera that takes an unflinching look at modern masculinity. A co-production in development, NEON promises to be one of the most talked-about new works to come out of the Irish opera scene in recent years.
Written by Rob Partridge with music composed by Oran Tobin, NEON explores what it means to be a man in the 21st century through a story that is at once intimate and epic. The work draws on contemporary themes of identity, vulnerability, and the pressure to perform, set against a score that blends classical operatic tradition with modern musical influences.
A New Direction for Opera Unhinged
NEON represents a significant step forward for Opera Unhinged as it continues to push the boundaries of what opera can be. Following the success of earlier productions and salon nights, this new work cements the company's reputation for bold, relevant, and emotionally charged storytelling.
The production will feature a cast of emerging Irish talent, with full production details, dates, and venue to be announced in the coming months.
